Recommendations
- Enable 2-factor authentication for all of your organizational accounts to help mitigate phishing and credential stuffing attacks
- If not already enabled, turn on the compromised credentials rule for all relevant entities and ensure relevant emails are entered for those entities, or reach out to [email protected] for assistance
- If one of your entities receives an alert, ZeroFOX recommends immediate password changes for the affected account
Details
The original compromise went unreported for over 18 months, and when it was disclosed the statement indicated that the passwords were encrypted and therefore safe. However, unsalted passwords, though run through a one-way hashing algorithm, can be brute-forced or may be susceptible to pass-the-hash attacks.
The data was posted for auction in an online forum and reported 2.8 million accounts from Singapore, Hong Kong, and Thailand.
