Executive Summary
The 2022 Winter Olympics, officially known as the XXIV Olympic Winter Games and commonly known as Beijing 2022, will occur from 4 to 20 February 2022, in Beijing and towns in the neighboring Hebei province in the People’s Republic of China (PRC). Beijing 2022 will be open to spectators, but only if they live in mainland China due to rigorous COVID-19 procedures, which are yet to be announced. While the preparations are still unfolding, China has made clear that containing the virus is its top priority, as a result, athletes and visitors will face severe restrictions on their movement and a level of control never seen at the Games.
