ZeroFox Intelligence April 2024 Geopolitical Brief
Product Serial: B-2024-03-29a
TLP:CLEAR
In this monthly intelligence brief, ZeroFox researchers cover how countries across Europe, led by France, Germany, and Italy, are warning that the Islamic State (IS) threat is at its highest level in years. The warning likely pertains to the upcoming Easter weekend through the Paris Olympics in August. April will see the start of a new, and potentially dangerous, operating environment for Western firms in Hong Kong. In late March, Hong Kong authorities enacted a new national security law that bears a similarity to new laws pushed in mainland China that limit access to data and place severe penalties on those who access it. A dangerous security environment is emerging in the Caribbean region. Haiti presents the biggest risks, but there are also security risks stemming from the near collapse of Cuba's economy and Venezuela's crackdown on the opposition ahead of the July elections. In India, a six-week-long election cycle presents unique risks, although the political outcome is all but certain. There are also elections and other votes in Slovakia, Croatia, Ecuador, and South Korea in April.
