Deadly Weather Leads to Deaths and Damage

Storms and tornadoes have disrupted transportation and logistics services across the American Midwest and East Coast and killed over 20 people. Severe storm alerts were issued for areas in New York, New Jersey, and Pennsylvania yesterday and flights were delayed across many airports.

Global Outcry over Rafah Tent Camp Attack

Countries across the world have expressed concern over an Israeli attack on the Tel Al-Sultan neighborhood in the Gazan city of Rafah, which led to a fire in tents and metal shelters and killed 45 people (including women, children, and elderly people). The Israeli military is reportedly investigating reports that a strike supposedly aimed against Hamas commanders caused the fire.

Sudan Sees Death Toll Rise Amid Civil War Between Armed Forces and Paramilitary Group

Doctors Without Borders (MSF) has stated that intense fighting in El Fasher, North Darfur, has killed at least 134 people since May 10. An MSF watchman reportedly lost their life in shelling while off duty. Many staff have lost family members and homes, and MSF has treated 979 people since the violence began. Paramilitary group Rapid Support Forces (RSF) has encircled El Fasher, affecting thousands of displaced people. UNICEF states that 500,000 are sheltering in the city, facing food and medicine shortages. The UN warns the situation risks genocide, with over 8.8 million displaced and 24.8 million needing assistance since civil war broke out in April 2023 between the Sudanese Armed Forces and the RSF.
