Terror Attack in Magdeburg: Car Drives Into Christmas Market, Killing Two
A car plowed into a crowd at a Christmas market in Magdeburg, Germany, leaving at least 68 people injured, 15 of them critically, and two dead, including a child. Authorities are investigating the incident as a possible terror attack. Eyewitnesses reported that a black BMW sped through the market, traveling 400 meters toward the town hall. The driver was quickly apprehended by police. Investigations are ongoing into the motive behind the attack.
Top U.S. Diplomats Arrive in Damascus to Meet New Syria Leaders in First Visit Since Assad Outing
A high-level U.S. diplomatic delegation has arrived in Syria to engage with the new leadership, aiming to promote moderation and inclusivity while also seeking information on missing American citizens. This marks the first official U.S. visit to Damascus since the Syrian civil war began in 2011, which culminated in the recent swift downfall of Bashar al-Assad. The delegation is expected to meet with members of the victorious Hayat Tahrir al-Sham (HTS), a group labeled as a terrorist organization by the United States, as well as with activists, civil society representatives, and minority group members. According to a State Department spokesperson, the talks will focus on “their (Syria’s) vision for the future of their country and how the United States can help support them.”
Putin Says Russia Is Ready to Compromise with Trump on Ukraine War
Russian President Vladimir Putin expressed his willingness to engage in negotiations with the U.S. President-elect Donald Trump to end the war in Ukraine. Putin also stated he had no preconditions for talks with Ukraine’s government. Although Putin indicated openness to discussions with Trump, he mentioned that any formal agreement would require the approval of Ukraine's recognized authorities, namely the Ukrainian parliament.
