- Geopolitical Focus | War, Violence, and Weather Events Spark Global Tensions
Silicon Valley Crosswalks Hacked with AI Voices of Tech Titans
What we know: Audio-enabled crosswalk buttons in Silicon Valley were hacked to play AI-generated voices mimicking Mark Zuckerberg and Elon Musk, which affected cities including Menlo Park, Palo Alto, and Redwood City.
Context: These crosswalk systems are designed to assist visually impaired pedestrians with audio cues. The incident reportedly occurred over the weekend, while the tampering likely started on April 11.
Analyst note: Replacing or interrupting standard “Walk” or “Wait” signals with unauthorized AI-generated voices is likely to risk pedestrian safety—particularly for the visually impaired—and could lead to confusion, unsafe crossings, or potentially life-threatening incidents.
India’s Lockheed Martin Aircraft Reportedly Faced Cyberattack During Operation
What we know: The Indian Air Force (IAF) confirmed they were warned of issues with Global Positioning System (GPS) while flying its Lockheed Martin C-130J Super Hercules aircraft during the Myanmar earthquake relief operation.
Context: Reportedly, the IAF aircraft faced GPS spoofing, which is the manipulation of GPS signals with the intention to mislead the target. However, the IAF did not confirm whether it was a cyberattack and said they were warned of a possible “degraded GPS availability.”
Analyst note: State-actors are likely behind the alleged GPS spoofing as it requires advanced technology, unlike jamming. There is a roughly even chance of China-backed threat actors targeting aircraft of perceived adversaries or competitors of China or Myanmar with GPS spoofing while in Myanmar airspace due to geopolitical issues.
Geopolitical Focus | War, Violence, and Weather Events Spark Global Tensions
- Officials, globally, are condemning the Russian double-tap strike on Ukraine, which killed at least 35 people and wounded 117 others. It also sparked discussions around the necessity to hasten the ceasefire.
- A sandstorm in Iraq has caused at least 700 suffocation cases, while hundreds have been experiencing breathing difficulties. In many regions, flights have been restricted, while many reported power outages. According to satellite images, the storm is likely to move toward Kuwait as well.
- In West Bengal, India, violent demonstrations erupted following changes made to the Waqf laws—laws to govern charitable activities involving Muslim properties. This follows last week’s violence in Muslim-dominated Murshidabad district, where three people were killed and 200 were arrested.
DEEP AND DARK WEB INTELLIGENCE
Telegram user AnonSec: ZeroFox observed threat actor group "AnonSec" has claimed responsibility for multiple DDoS attacks targeting various U.S.-based entities under its ongoing operation #Op_USA. Such coordinated attacks are likely to disrupt critical functions, cause operational downtime, and further escalate ongoing geopolitical tensions.
VULNERABILITY AND EXPLOIT INTELLIGENCE
CVE-2025-30406: Threat actors have reportedly exploited this vulnerabiliity to target seven organizations, while 100 endpoints have registered unusual activities. It could enable threat actors to serialize a payload for server-side deserialization to achieve remote code execution. Threat actors could escalate privilege in affected devices for full device control and exfiltrate sensitive information like client and proprietary data to extort victims or use them in further scams.
Affected products: Gladinet CentreStack affected from versions 0 those before 16.4.10315.56368
