PHP Urges Admins to Prepare for Critical Patches After Reported Vulnerability Leak

Source: https://www.bleepingcomputer.com/news/security/php-warns-admins-of-two-critical-flaws-emergency-patches-coming-tomorrow/

What we know: The PHP security team has announced an emergency security release for October 21, 2026, fixing two critical flaws and urging administrators to be prepared to update their systems. PHP added it may release the patches sooner if details of either vulnerability become public, or should evidence of active exploitation appear in the wild.

Context: PHP is a server-side scripting language that runs several websites and web applications, including content management systems (CMS) and e-commerce platforms. The announcement comes amid reports of leaked information about the two vulnerabilities ahead of the release of patches. The two vulnerabilities are reportedly tracked as CVE-2026-109618 and CVE-2026-109619, described as remote code execution (RCE) flaws. As of writing, in the wild exploitation of vulnerabilities has not been reported.

Analyst note: The premature disclosure of vulnerability information very likely indicates that threat actors are monitoring the flaws and their technical details. Large scale and rapid exploitation attempts of the disclosed vulnerabilities are very likely in the hours following release of the security patches and technical details. At least one vulnerability reportedly has a private proof-of-concept (PoC), whose publication post patches is likely to be used by threat actors.

NVIDIA RTX 5090 Shipment Goes Missing in Brazil

What we know: A Brazilian electronics distributor has reported two pallets of Zotac NVIDIA RTX 5090 graphics cards, valued at approximately BRL 2.5 million (USD 470,000), as missing after arriving at Guarulhos International Airport in Brazil. The incident reportedly comes amid limited RTX 5090 supply and sharply elevated prices, with the GPU reportedly selling for more than twice its USD 2,000 launch price in some markets.

Context: Semiconductors have become a national security flashpoint in U.S.-China competition, with U.S. export controls restricting China's access to certain advanced computing chips and reports of suspected smuggling networks circumventing these restrictions. Additionally, high-value AI hardware has become targets of cargo theft, including cyber-enabled schemes that exploit compromised logistics accounts, carrier impersonation, phishing, and shipment rerouting. ZeroFox observed that, since the start of the year, the transport and logistics sector experienced approximately 600 cyber incidents, primarily in North America and Europe and Russia.

Analyst note: At the time of writing, the incident’s cause remains unconfirmed. The GPU’s high value and limited availability is also likely to create an opportunity for illicit resale through gray-market channels attracting buyers, including nation-state entities, seeking hardware outside normal distribution channels.

Indian Certificate Authority eMudhra’s Weak Security Keys Likely Enables Website Impersonation

Source: https://www.theregister.com/security/2026/10/20/indian-certification-authority-emudhras-private-keys-compromised-one-of-them-was-the-number-4/5304312

What we know: Indian certification authority eMudhra confirmed a security incident involving compromise of private keys associated with eight intermediate certificate authority (CA) certificates. These keys were reportedly recovered from public certificates, as the company generated them in single-byte values instead of random 384-bit numbers.

Context: eMudhra’s compromised private cryptographic keys were used to sign digital certificates that browsers rely on to verify website identities as genuine. The company has issued more than 60 million digital certificates. Mozilla, Google, and Apple have implemented protections against the affected intermediates between October 17 and October 20, 2026. eMudhra stated that only one of the eight affected intermediate CAs was deployed in production and none had issued end-entity certificates.

Analyst note: The compromised keys are likely to enable attackers to forge HTTPS certificates and impersonate legitimate websites. Threat actors are also likely to use compromised CA keys to make malware look legitimately signed on systems that have not received updated certificate trust and revocation data.

DATA BREACHES INTELLIGENCE

BreachForums user Siriusim: Untested threat actor "Siriusim” has advertised a dataset allegedly belonging to Indian public sector bank State Bank of India (SBI) on the dark web forum BreachForums. SBI has reportedly confirmed a cyberattack in which 3,897 customer records were leaked on the dark web. However, according to the threat actor, the dataset contains 375,000 rows of information. The leaked information reportedly contains personally identifiable information (PII), customer identifiers, along with loan records. Exposed individuals are likely to be targeted in phishing and social engineering attacks, including fraudulent loan repayment scams involving threats and intimidation. Leaked information is also likely to be leveraged to reroute loan disbursements to attacher-controlled accounts.

DEEP AND DARK WEB INTELLIGENCE

Handala Hack Team targets Israeli entities: Pro-Iran hacktivist group Handala Hack Team has advertised data allegedly associated with former Israeli Foreign Minister Tzipi Livni, an Israeli military media intelligence unit, and an Israeli military general named Amir Avivi. The dataset allegedly includes leaked confidential communications, classified documents, contact information, and military-related footage. These claims follow the threat group’s announcement on September 19, 2026, that its “Naem” cyber tool infected the phones of 700 Israelis and captured selfies and location data. The current claims are likely to be at least partly legitimate, although the leaked data and the extent of the alleged breaches remain unconfirmed. Previous claims by Handala Hack Team have been substantiated in some cases, lending credibility to its latest claims. However, these claims are also very likely to form part of psychological operations intended to induce panic and sow distrust and confusion among affected organizations.

VULNERABILITY AND EXPLOIT INTELLIGENCE

CVE-2026-106173: This is an already-patched path traversal vulnerability in Fortinet FortiSIEM that could enable an unauthenticated remote attacker to write arbitrary files to the appliance.Successful exploitation likely leads to remote code execution (RCE) or commands via specially crafted packets. A public proof-of-concept (PoC) exploit is available.

Affected products: FortiSIEM 7.0 – 7.5
