Breach Disclosure: Adult FrindFinder

In 2016, adult dating and entertainment company Adult FriendFinder was breached. According to an article on ZDNet, the breach was part of a larger Friend Finder Network breach, which exposed more than 412 million records. The AdultFriendFinder breach allegedly had 339 million accounts compromised. This specific breach contains approximately 170 million usernames, e-mail addresses and SHA-1 passwords.

Recommendations

  • If not already enabled, turn on the compromised credentials rule for all relevant entities and ensure relevant emails are entered for those entities, or reach out to [email protected] for assistance
  • If one of your entities receives an alert, ZeroFOX recommends immediate password changes for the affected account
  • Enable 2-factor authentication for all of your organizational accounts to help mitigate phishing and credential stuffing attacks

Details

There are a number of conflicting data sources with partial breach data for Adult FriendFinder. A post on RaidForums by user ryan009 posted 4 million records from Adult FriendFinder in November, 2016. Almost 4 years later, DonJuji on RaidForums posted an updated leak to Adult FriendFinder, releasing almost 200 million rows. DonJuji mentions on the thread that he is still hunting for the 400 million row breach.
