Fox Spotlight: Roberto Romàn
3 minute read

ZeroFox had an exciting year. Between being the only cybersecurity company to go public in 2022 and experiencing record expansion of our team, there's a lot to be grateful for. We recognize that it takes every Fox around the globe working together to make ZeroFox a success and to bring the highest value for our customers. To celebrate the contributions of each of our Foxes, we are proud to bring you our new Fox Spotlight series, where we will get to know the people behind the business.

This month, we chatted with Roberto Romàn, a Senior Software Engineer here at ZeroFox, who shared insight into his role, industry misconceptions, and why Rick and Morty is his favorite show.

Tell us a little bit about your career.

I have been a Software Engineer for about 6 years. I started as a frontend engineer but eventually ended up doing a bit of everything. I’ve worked at startups and tech companies mostly. I’m currently the Tech Lead of the CTI: Vigilante team here at ZeroFox.

What do you do at ZeroFox?

Mainly break stuff and share cat GIFs. But also design, build and maintain awesome tech projects that help us create a safer digital world!

What industry-related misconception drives you crazy?

Artificial Intelligence, mostly because most people think that AI are actually intelligent, almost self-conscious programs that will solve all of our problems. Or, well, end humanity.

What three words would you use to describe ZeroFox?

Pretty awesome culture!

How do you like to spend your free time?

Playing video games, hanging out with friends, playing with my cats, skiing during winter, and working on my side projects.

Now to the hard-hitting question: Coffee, tea, or neither?

I love both. Couldn’t really pick one over the other.

If you were a professional athlete, what would your walkout music be?

Higher Ground - Red Hot Chilli Peppers

What’s your guilty pleasure movie?

Friends with Benefits

If you could live anywhere in the world for a year, where would it be?

Probably some small town in the Swiss Alps.

What is your favorite TV show and why?

Rick and Morty! Because Wubba Lubba Dub Dub!

Do you have a favorite musician or band? If so, what’s the one song you’d recommend people listen to of theirs?

I have quite a few. The first that comes to mind is Flaca by Andrés Calamaro.

Anything else you’d like to share?

I feel extremely lucky to have found such an amazing group of people to work with! I wish everyone had the opportunity to work in a place like ZeroFox and enjoy such an awesome work culture!
