U.S., Germany Allow Ukraine to Use Western Weapons Inside Russia

The United States and several European governments recently allowed Ukraine to use Western weapons to strike targets inside Russia. Previously, these governments forbade Ukraine from using their weapons to strike Russian targets, which limited Ukraine's ability to defend against some attacks, especially near the border regions. The United States, Germany, and Denmark have said they would allow Ukraine to use weapons against Russian targets on a limited basis. Meanwhile, other NATO countries are also in discussions to remove restrictions on Ukraine using Western weapons.

Houthis Claim to Attack American Aircraft Carrier in Red Sea After Deadly U.S.-British Airstrikes

On May 31, Yemen’s Houthi militants claimed to have launched an attack on the USS Eisenhower, an American aircraft carrier supporting freedom-of-navigation efforts in the Red Sea. A Houthi spokesman claimed the attack was in response to joint U.S.-British airstrikes late on May 30 that reportedly killed 16 people in Yemen and wounded at least 41. A U.S. defense official denied any knowledge of an attack on the Eisenhower.

Mexico's Sheinbaum Poised to Become First Woman President

Claudia Sheinbaum is on track to secure a landslide victory as Mexico's first female president, according to multiple exit polls and early results. She brings a background in climate science and previous experience as mayor of Mexico City. Inheriting the legacy of her mentor, Andrés Manuel López Obrador, she promises to continue his popular welfare policies while facing challenges of budget deficits, low economic growth, and security concerns exacerbated by organized crime. Her victory will mark a significant milestone in Mexico's political landscape, challenging traditional gender roles in a historically macho culture. ZeroFox Intelligence had predicted this in a flash report released earlier this month.
